Storyteller uses an anthology style of storytelling. As such, each chapter is unrelated by common threads of intertwining quests so that your encounters become the story. This page gives you more detail on what's going on in the larger scale, adding flavour to your experience.
"Eighth century Earth is embroiled in a bitter war between the forces of good and evil. For the last three centuries, heroes from across the globe have attempted to stem the tide of zombies, ghouls and skeletons from but their efforts have been in vain. A brilliant mage hatched a plan to trap the world in a timelock, so that the forces of good might stand a chance, and defeat the forces of evil once and for all."
The game takes place in an alternate version of Earth, where magic has been used to supplement the technological breakthroughs normally categorised with our own history. As such, it’s not uncommon to see advanced construction and smithing methods or new tools being used in everyday life.
Perhaps you will find yourselves at the sharp end of a mechanically impossible trap, or visit caves that could never be carved by hand or by mother nature. You could explore the depths of labyrinthine tunnels and get lost for days, or find secret and valuable items instead.
The world of Storyteller is filled with exciting opportunities for adventure!
Between the plague and various wars, people struggle daily to live happy and fulfilling lives, their welfare almost always balanced on a knife's edge. The Empire has made progress and created a few safe havens in this world, but they're few and far between over the vast areas plagues by undead.
The different species of humanoid living on Earth are vast and varied, but the three most populous races are Humans, Elves, and Dwarves. To ensure that players can play as who and what they want, the race you choose has absolutely no bearing on gameplay at all, and is for role-playing and flavour only.
This game is designed to treat all players and characters as equals, whether you want to play as something whacky like a giant blue pickle from outer space, a gruff Dwarven Fighter, or anything in between. Storyteller is for everyone.
An undead scourge is hell bent on killing or devouring every living thing across the world. The three undead commanders you will face control armies of skeletons, ghosts, and zombies which creep and slither into towns, villages and homes to steal the lives of the innocent.
You may even find the people of the world aren't exactly great either, helping and aiding the undead for their own nefarious purposes.
You are the world's only hope, so stop the undead scourge before it's too late!
