A hero in their own right, the characters you play as in Storyteller all fill a specific role in combat. As you complete encounters you will level up through the use of Skill Points (SP) and equip yourself with better gear using Gold and the mysterious (and rare) Relic Shards.
The Fighter's role in combat is to take as much damage away from their allies as possible. They're capable of taking the most damage, which is enhanced through their skill use.
The back of the character card shows your skill list, weapon type and armour type. The Fighter's suggested skills are: Charge, Defend, Bash, Provoke and Retribution.
Each skill has it's own card, the effects of which vary between skill type and class.
This level one attack skill doubles the chances of a successful hit.
The Fighter's preferred weapons are Swords & Shields. The active bonus provides more HP so they can take more damage from enemies.
The Fighter is trained in the use of Heavy Armour, favouring plate above all. The active bonus helps get The Fighter into a better tactical position at the start of combat.
The Assassin's role in combat is to deal as much damage as possible, as quickly as possible. They're experts in speed and pushing themselves to the extreme.
The back of the character card shows your skill list, weapon type and armour type. The Assassin's suggested skills are: Swift Strike, Defend, Shadow, Steal and Speed.
This level one attack skill helps engaging targets, chipping away at their defence whilst offering the opportunity to succeed after an initial failure.

The Assassin prefers the use of twin daggers to execute their skills. The active bonus lowers the difficulty needed to strike your enemies.
The Assassin favours Leather Armour as they provide a robust defence but hardly compromise on movement. The active bonus grants extra agility so they can go sooner in combat.
The Mage's role is to support the party through the use of Light Spells, but they also possess potent destructive capabilities through their dark spells like Arcane Bolt and Fireball.
The back of the character card shows your skill list, weapon type and armour type. The Mage's suggested skills are: Arcane Bolt, Defend, Healing Circle, Fireball and Bubble Shield.
This level one dark spell supports the party by making it easier to hit all enemies in combat, whether the attack is successful or not.
The Mage chooses the Staff as their main weapon. Staves help to channel the potent magic from the world, and the active bonus increases the potency of Light Spells.
The Mage wears light robes to allow their innate magic abilities to flow properly. The active bonus allows them to magically restore the health of their allies when taking damage.
Each character tracks their attributes, levelling increases, skill points and gold using their character sheet. These are pre-filled with their starting attributes, but a totally blank version is available for those wanting a more custom experience.
